Hon. Am. Lit Tuesday/Wednesday Jan. 2-3
Objectives/Essential Question: Can You…
•RL.1/RL.2/RL.3- cite setting, plot, and character details
from Huck Finn, Animal Farm, and Slaughterhouse Five
RL.4 Word meaning and Tone/word impact
RL.6 Infer and analyze sophisticated points of view
W.2- Craft a response to argumentative writing
Agenda:
HOMEWORK: finish your satire novel--
1. Hand back work
2. Discuss Reading SH5/Animal (7-8); Huck
11-14. See Below:

Day 1

By yourself, Solo, all alone:

Looking at your dialectic journal only, pick a passage from

chapters 7-8 Slaughterhouse/Animal, or 11-14 Huck and

discuss how that passage develops a particular theme from

the text. Follow this format:

Part I

1. Statement of theme (no one word themes).

2. Transition to Your Passage.

THEN, USING YOUR BOOK...

3. Find one place earlier in the text where that same theme

made its appearance and explain how it did so.

Part II

In a group, land on the 2 best themes and differentiate which

one is more central. Make sure you, as a group, explain why.

Part II goes in the middle of your place mat.

If you and your group finish, make a list of vocabulary words(complete with page numbers) from the same chapters- complete with definitions.
